Why was it written?
The purpose of Font Aid is to serve as a comprehensive board review resource for the
USMLE Step 1. It was created utilizing select information from Boards and Beyond (BNB),
First Aid for the USMLE, Pathoma, USMLE World, Amboss, Rapid Review Pathology by Dr.
Goljan, Sketchy Medical, Osmosis, and others. I noticed many single resources would leave
out important facts about a given topic. Rather than straining my mind to remember facts
about a topic from multiple resources, I decided to create this document as a “one stop
shop” to review. Thus, the only way to get the “full picture” was to create my own book.

How was it written?
It was written by one medical student from January to June 2020.
It is estimated that the typing and editing took ~700-1000 hours.
There are built in bookmarks in the PDF representing each subject.
The outline of the subjects represents the order seen in BNB.
After adding BNB info, the gaps were filled with the other resources.
It was edited to be neat. There is virtually no page spillover (OCPD).
Some information is purposely repeated in other sections to aid reinforcement.

How should it be used?
My recommendation is to view BNB videos, then supplement by reading each section here
afterwards to build a solid foundation. Reading the corresponding section in First Aid will also reinforce and give reassurance that most material is found within this book. Definitely watch and study Sketchy Micro, as infectious disease is NOT well represented in this book (ran out of time creating it). It is crucial to do practice questions (UWorld) and do at least 4 NBMEs before your big day. If you are not great at retaining information from reading and you are not a fan of charts, this resource may not be for you (maybe you should stick to ANKI).

Important disclaimer:
While my attempt was to have everything you possibly need to know all in one book, it is
simply impossible. Some information may be beyond the scope of the USMLE, and I can
confirm some topics came up on test day that are not in this book. Please do NOT rely on the infectious disease section, it was haphazardly thrown together last minute, has many
repeats, and is not sufficient. You will discover that this document is not uniformly fantastic.

Some sections may be minimally helpful, others may be epic. Like any other random
resource found on the internet, you should always use caution and acknowledge the risks.
